Professional Development Committee and Affinity Groups Interest Meeting

Have you ever wanted to be a part of a group impacting statewide change and growth?

Do you crave in-depth and honest community with like-minded professionals?

Do you want to work with exciting people to plan impactful growth opportunities?

If you are saying yes to any of these, join Jeffry Neuhouser, CDPI Director of Professional Development and Education on Thursday, September 30th at  1:00 PM for the Professional Development Committee and Affinity Groups Interest Meeting.

The CDPI Professional Development Committee is being relaunched to support sustainable and ongoing professional development for members, and this is your chance to be a part of this exciting opportunity. This collaborative group will work to schedule professional development sessions throughout the year, help coordinate the affinity groups as needed (see the next paragraph), and be a resource listening and advocating for the developmental and professional needs of Career Development Professionals throughout Indiana. More details and an interest form will be provided on September 30th.

Additionally, CDPI is planning to launch Affinity Groups this fall to support the community development needs of members. These groups will be centered around two purposes: (1) building informal and authentic community where members can share concerns and discuss relevant topics, and (2) provide advocacy (to CDPI Board and ProDev Committee) and educational opportunities for affinity group members and/or all members. Current possible groups include:

  • Community College CDPs
  • Liberal Arts CDPs
  • CDPs of Color
  • LGBTQ+ CDPs
  • Early Professional CDPs
  • Mid-Professional CDPs
  • Directors of CDP/Chief Career Development Officers

The goal is for these groups to be self-sustaining and to evolve as the needs of members evolve. The feeling of being isolated in one’s position from other CDPs, or even that one’s center is isolated from statewide conversations is a feeling running rampant due to the global pandemic. Through the rejuvenated ProDev Committee and Affinity Groups, we hope to provide the community and growth our members are seeking.

Please join the interest meeting on September 30th at 1 PM. The session will be recorded for those unable to join.
